Hvis en kat fanger en mus, spiser katten ikke spidsmusen, fordi den smager grimt. Spidsmusen er i øvrigt ikke en mus, men hører til insektæderne og er i familie med muldvarpen, hvilket også tydeligt ses på bl.a. dens pels.
